The germination of zamia loddiguesii seeds.

The germination of any kind of cycad seed begin with the harvest of the seeds, the first step is get the seeds from the ripe cone;  it will be ripe when the seeds are red and the cone begin to break down.

The next step is remove the red pulp and wash the seeds; i preffer use isopods(kind of arthropods) to clean the seeds because they eat the seed red coat. Bury the seeds and let them work. it take 2 -4 weeks to be ready.
Once the seeds are clean, they must be disinfected with a clorine solution 20% v/v for 30 minutes. when the time is over, the seeds must be rinsed with pure water.

In the next stages we will put the seeds in a process of stratification, it takes 14 months or so. is very important keep the seeds moisted; the best way is using peat moss boiled(cold) to conserve the moisture around the seeds.
The seeds in stratification process, must be check out every six months to observe the progress.
When the radicle begin to sprout, the seed must be sown it takes some time and lots of pattient.
Plant your germinated seeds on mineral soil.

Keep the seeds in a greenhouse, warm and add some regular waterings.
After the leaf are fully grow and get hardened you can transplant the plantlets in to  a bigger pot.

Be patient and good luck!!!
